“Fish Town”, Leland Michigan, was a great stop. We would go back by land or sea to this unique town of boaters and fisherman. There were 6 looping boats in Leland and we met 4 of them. Leland was a 51 mile run from Traverse city and after Leland we traveled another 68 miles past Sleeping Bear Dunes to Manistee. There were 2 loopers at the marina and it was nice to see and talk to them. The only reason we stopped in Manistee is because the weather was getting worse and we could not make it to Pentwater. We left Manistee at 7 AM for Pentwater on nice seas and pulled into Snug Harbor at 9 AM after a 37 mile run. At 11 AM a predicted Thunderstorm came through as we were in the town walking the shops. Pentwater is a very nice little town and it is worth going back to. We even Met Hal and Barb from Milford. Sunday morning we headed out for another 59 mile run to Grand Haven on following seas and pulled into Grand Isle to have Skipper buds do some caulking on our hard top. Grand Haven is where the Grand River dumps into Lake Michigan and even though this is a nice facility, the river water is nasty. We met two other loopers here from Florida doing repairs on their boats as well.
Lake Michigan has been a great run so far with many beautiful views of the west coast. We are now into our third week of our loop and headed to Saugatuck tomorrow for 5 days. Then to South Haven , Portage IN, and Chicago.
Tip of the day: When asking for advice, never ask “what should I do”, ask “what would YOU do”.

- Cindy Y Love Leland. Used to stay at that hotel on the right by the bridge “Falling Waters Lodge” with my mom. Val, she had a custom painting of that hotel over the fireplace on Minerva.
